Stencil Girl/Colourcraft (Brusho) Blog Hop

SG Colourcraft Blog Hop banner (1)
Hi Everyone!
A very warm welcome to the Stencil Girl / Colourcraft (Brusho) Blog Hop!
For this very special collaboration I have made a button hole binding book for you today and hope you enjoy the project 🙂
I started my project with the absolutely gorgeous Stencil Girl Stencil No. L509 Janet Joehlin Curlicue Floral Stencil.
Taking an A4 sheet of watercolour paper I taped down the edges and applied a layer of Modelling Paste and semi dried it with my heat gun.
I then sprayed the entire sheet with water and began sprinkling various different green and blue Brusho crystals over top until I got the desired coverage and colours.
I took my heat gun and dried the entire sheet, and by not allowing the modelling paste to dry completely at the start,  it begins to peel off as the paper begins to dry out acting as a resist, and the effect is beautiful

Next job was to create the book using my lovely new stenciled background
I cut down a piece of chipboard to the required size and trimmed my paper a half inch larger than my chipboard
SG1
I then applied scor-tape to the entire back side of the chipboard and stuck this down to my patterned paper, mitered the edges and cut and folded back the button hole in the book cover
sg2
Next step was to make the signatures for the book so I chose coloured card that would compliment the cover
sg3
The papers were cut to size and folded ready for the holes to be pierced through for the binding
sg4
sg5
The next step was to assemble the book and stitch all the signatures in place to complete the finished book…

I loved how this turned out and I have enough of the background paper left over to make another 2 books!

To finish the front of the book off I used some fibres and a lovely pottery button
