Sticky Back Canvas Postcards and Sewing Machine Fail

Evening all….:-)

Tonight up in the workshop I had a bit of an epic fail with the sewing machine and I cannae fix it lol… the underneath bit gets all gathered up with thread and ends up looking like a birds nest…. now either that sewing machine needs help or I do lol

So here is what I started out making when I first went up there… you can see on the left hand side of the envelope where the sewing machine threw a flaky and bombed out on me 😉

So I gave up, stuck the machine back on the shelf and went onto Ustream and had a wee natter with all my lovely wee crafty friends.. it was good tonight as they all cheered me up after I came home from work with s stonking sore head and the broo’s doon 😉

Sam got her plaster cast off her leg today so that was a bit of good news, she’s well on the road to being mobile once again 🙂

I made a couple of postcards too.. a pink one and then a “joycie special” lavender and grey one…

I had printed out some digital collage sheets at the weekend onto Sticky Backed Canvas and used some of these within the postcards made this evening

Once I had cleared up the aftermath from that, I managed to have a chat with my friend Deb on Skype, and catch up with what we’ve both been up to…

After that I sat down and had a wee play around with sticky back canvas I bought when I ordered my gel medium last week, and also make a couple of valentines cards for my Etsy shoppe, seeing as I found my Making Memories valentine paper that I had lost 🙂

I’ts been a good day today, my January Design Team Package arrived from Wild Orchid Crafts, so I headed up to my workshop and recorded a video of what I received.. you can view it over on Youtube here

I also ran past the sorting office on the way home tonight and picked up a couple of packages that arrived yesterday, but I wasnt in… I ordered some Claudine Hellmuth Multi Medium in Matte as I had completely ran out!    I also ordered some Glitz Design patterned papers which were 50% off … I love using their papers on projects and took full advantage of the fact that they were on sale over at http://www.scrapbookgarden.co.uk

Soo… whilst the video I recorded was uploading onto youtube, and whilst I was watching Nicky / inkyminxy crafting away on Ustream I thought I would try my hand at making a fridge magnet… so here’s what I came up with…

UIU Friday Night Project **Starting this Friday 27th Jan 2012**

Hi Everyone and a very happy monday to you all 🙂

I have fancied doing a challenge for a while, and have looked at various online challenges and nothing really grabbed my fancy… so I thought why not create my own and invite others along for fun!

Soooooooo…. with “Use It Up” (UIU) in mind… which was created and set up by the lovely Fran at the begining of this month over on her blog, I decided to keep this in mind when setting the project up… and take it one stage further.

My thought process was….

  1. Think of a challenge (which I did today)
  2. Invite friends to participate (doing this now)
  3. Try and get a Mr Linky thingy up on my blog for people to post their projects (have 4 days to suss it out)
  4. Get this…. Give a random selection of stuff from my own stash (again with UIU in mind) to someone who participates, makes the project along with me, posts their project to my blog via mr linky and then I’ll draw a winner.. phew! did that make sense??

So here is my sketch of what I had in mind…

Its going to be a tabbed mini book but you must go shopping for stuff for it from your own stash.

I plan to use the “stack the deck” binding system for it and you can find the info on this on Youtube on Laura Dennison’s Following the Paper Trail Channel where she provides all the details and information you will need.

There is no Size constraints for this project you can make it as small or as big as you like, it all depends on what size envelopes you have in your stash, but with this in mind, remember that you will need some form of chipboard, handmade paper, etc to make a cover for the book.

If you have any questions at all just send me a message here or I will provide full details on Ustream on Friday Night (27th Jan) after Barb Owen has finished her stream.. should roughly be on at around 9pm – 9.30pm ish I will create a show date for it on Ustream just incase… the link for my channel on on the side bar, just click the Ustream button.

Hope to see you all on Friday… I cant wait!! 🙂

Blue Valentine {no matter what}

I escaped up the the shed again tonight as hubby was on phase II of his shredding campaign.. dont think my ears could take another evening of the rattling and groaning of that machine {why did I buy him one} !!

Blue Valentine… made with UIU (use it up) in mind and colours I dont normally go for

Supplies Used :-

  • Blue Cardstock
  • Melissa Frances Patterned paper
  • Pearly Lace from The Ribbon Reel
  • Blue Cherry Blossoms from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Gold Doily from Crafty Helen 🙂
  • Digital Collage Sheet from Etsy
  • Stardust Stickles

Although there is not a lot of product in this card it took me aaaages to finish because it was using a colour i;d not normally grab and also blue is not usually a colour you can get a valentine card in (thats my excuse) 😉

Card 2 {no matter what}

Another card using up scraps and leftovers from the cards I made earlier today and also using up the digital images from the collage sheet I printed out this morning…

Supplies List :-

  • Pink Cardstock
  • Kraft Cardstock
  • Stampin Up Modern Label and Word Window Punch
  • Stampin Up Pairs Stamp Set
  • Frilly Lace
  • Frayed Burlap Distress Ink
  • Diamond Stickles
  • Stampin Dimensionals
  • Ranger Black Archival Ink
