Jelli Prints and Fuzzy Flowers

Hello everyone..

An early start for me in my wee shed today and as a result this blog post will be a rather long one with lots of pictures.

I busted out my new Jelli Plate, who knew that they would be so much fun!

a) I get to use up some of the mountains of paper that I have been hoarding for the last 7 years

b) I get to use up some of the bottles of acrylic paint I have accumulated

c) I get to make cool new backgounds for my cards

First of all I will share the new jelli prints that I made, then I will show the cards I made after I was done πŸ™‚

Grab a cuppa, it’s a long’un πŸ™‚

Shabby Chic Photograph Book

I headed up to my shed late morning to make something shabby… it feels like an age since I made anything shabby…

I was supposed to be working today, but I worked my butt off for 10 hours straight yesterday, so that I didn’t have to go into work today.

So shabby chic it was and as it turned out, very much a recycling project..

here is what i made:-

Shabby Chic Photo Book 1

it started off Β it life looking like this

then I chopped the sides off

and made it into a bookcover..

I added some watered down acrylic paint..

and painted the cover back and front with several coats, until it looked how I wanted it

I took a second & third piece of corrugated cardboard, ran it through an embossing folder, and gave it the same paint treatment, all the edges were inked with pumice stone distress ink..

the picture above is the piece that I added to the outer spine of the photograph book. Β I then added some burlap strands and a piece of junk jewels from my local charity shop and it looks like this…

The inside pages are just a heavy weight textured cardstock that I stitched together, then stitched them into the book, I used Ozegran (Jen’s) binding technique, a link to her blog is on my sidebar.

I roughed up all the edges of the book pages..

Shabby Chic Photograph Book 2

the front of the book features another one of the wooden hearts that I picked up from Hobbycraft at christmas.

there are also some vintage flowers, a padlock and a heart stick pin.. and I also incorporated some of my own handmade paper that I made last year from pulping down old letters and envelopes

Shabby Chic Photograph Book 3

As I mentioned at the start of my post, I have done a lot of recyling and “using it up” in this project..

  • The cover was from an old cardboard box
  • the spine gem came from the charity shop
  • the cardstock I had for 4 yrs (using it up)
  • the handmade paper on the front I made from old letters and envelopes

you can see the handmade paper just peeking out from behind the wooden heart..

Homemade & Recycled

I made my own paper this afternoon….. Yipeee!!!!!!!… I’m soooo happy it with it …..can you see me grinning from where you are? Β πŸ˜€

My hubby built me the frame etc, that I needed to start making my own paper, it’s sooo much fun, plus you get to recycle all your old envelopes, junk mail etc and make gorgeous paper!

So here is my first attempt, the mulch just out of the frame and I added some Wild Orchid Crafts Natural Skeleton Leaves, plus some iridescent glitter from my shed..

This is my 3rd DT project for the month and will feature as next week’s DT Project on Youtube, but I just couldn’t wait to show you all

I will make some other variations during the coming week and will share these next weekend πŸ™‚

Once the paper has dried completely… this is what it looks like

Now all I need to do is incorporate this into some handmade cards πŸ™‚

I’m off to make some more πŸ˜‰

Thanks so much for popping in!
