Postman Swap Challenge

Happy Bank Holiday Monday everyone 🙂

Taking full advantage of an extra day off work I headed up to my shed early doors this morning to create a few bits n pieces.. One of which is this fun little book box below…

A couple of weeks ago I recieved another envelope from the Postman Swap that a few of us crafting gals took part in, and this month’s envelope came from Sam, which was packed with fin things to use…

I managed to use up the sheet music paper, playing cards, admit one ticket, some wire mesh a chipboard gear and a metal key charm!

The stuff I used from my own stash to make this was a little chipboard book box, texture paste and sticky metal tape stuff and some sprays and distress stains and alcohol inks.

This is what the book looked like before.. I picked this up at a recent craft fair from the store

I gave it a coat of linen acrylic paint

then started to stick things down and embelish it ..

I used the wire mesh to create texture on the moulding paste ..

Thanks for the postie swap this month sam… i loved setting myself this wee challenge 🙂

Jungle Book

Yesterday was a busy old day … I did a power of walking (3 1/2 miles), and from friday i’d been on 3 different trains (i’m never on a train)

I popped up to my shed late afternoon to make a tyvek ted for chunky our springer spaniel, which actually turned out to be a flat rabbit instead. I had thought that, if I made him a toy out of tyvek, it would last him and would be the answer to all his teddy woes (he destroys all toys).. but sadly my master plan failed and he wrecked flat rabbit in less than 5 mins.. I recorded the making and destroying process on Ustream, so if you fancy a nosey.. the link is in the side bar 😉

I also made this DT project for Wild Orchid Crafts last night, the video is already up on Youtube, if you fancy a peek.

Its an altered book box that I had picked up from Hobbycraft a few weekends ago, I gave it a coat of Gesso then a layer of citron green acyrlic paint, followed by a linen and lemonade colourwash to help and dull down the vibrant green 🙂

I also incorporated hessian/burlap fabric, lace and silk ribbon into the project…

and lots of Wild Orchid Crafts Flowers and blooms 🙂
