Merry Christmas Cards

Hi Everyone!

The thought run through my head today that I don’t make enough cards, and it is true.. I had a look back through my blog and it is sparse in the card department, so I intend to get back to my roots and make more of them…. starting today!

I got stuck into making Christmas cards, and I made a trio (all the same)

I want to make more in the coming weeks, then decide which one I like the best,  so I will hang off mass producing them until I choose my favourite 🙂

I did record a youtube video of this card being made too, which I will upload shortly

I used 3 x lovely distress inks for this card… Tumbled Glass, Weathered Wood and Broken China

The leaf die and the sentiment stamp are from Clearly Besotted Stamps, I also used some bazzill textured cardstock in a lovely blue colour as a mat between my layers

I hope you enjoyed today’s card, and I hope to be back with more cards very soon

Thanks for popping round

Fragmented Butterfly

Catching up on my Online Watercolor for Card Makers Class after being away for the weekend…

Today I tried watercolor stamping background technique… and also used my stampendous fragments embossing enamel, glitter and flakes..

butterfly

The card base is Bazzil Marshmallow Cardstock, then I took some Picked Raspberry distress ink, watered it down a touch, then tapped my paintbrush over some watercolour card to give a sprinkled effect…

butterfly 2

then I worked on the watercolour background technique… I used a basic grey background stamp with more of the picked raspberry distress ink, love how this turned out… the majority of background stamps that I own, have quite busy patterns, by that I mean that the pattern is quite close together, with tiny open spaces.

Then I took my Stampendous Shabby White Enamel embossing powder and sprinkled glitter and flakes, then heat embossed it from underneath the card, once melted, I pressed a small red rubber butterfly stamp into the centre.. you can see it better in the picture below..

Here are some of the other backgrounds that I worked on today…

The blue/green dylusions with clear embossing powderand another background stamp by Basic Grey.. work in progress, I just need to figure out what to put on the front to finish the card off

blue embossed

and then the same background stamp, without embossing, done in Wild Honey Distress Ink.. I might just give this one an extra mist with more water tomorrow.. it looks more stamped than a watercolour background 🙂

As always, thanks for popping round, and I will see you all tomorrow, with some more watercolour cards

Happy

Happy….

This card has 2 meaings behind my inspiration for making it…

#1 Happy because I love to craft in my blue shed in my garden

#2 Happy to be participating in the Online Card Class – Watercolor for card makers

In class today, I learned several new techniques for creating water colour backgrounds, I went with the method by Jennifer Rzasa, i didn’t have time to do the stencil effect, however I will be trying this very soon!

For my background I chose 3 x colours :

  1. Peacock Feathers
  2. Wild Honey
  3. Squeezed Lemonade
