Shabby Chic Pinny

Hope your all having a wonderful Sunday….

I have pottered between the shed and the house today, I have been sorting buttons, dismantling jewellery,  reading books and playing with copper wire..

In one of the books I read there was a great little project where you had to make your own coat hanger from wire and also an apron or “pinny” …. inspired by this I set off to make one and here’s my version…

The book that this delightful wee project came from was called Layered, Tattered and Stitched: A Fabric Art Workshop by Ruth Rae, I bought this book in 2011 from Amazon.

I used the following materials to make it :-

  • Sewing Machine
  • Vintage sheet music paper
  • Muslin Fabric
  • Vintage lace ribbon
  • May Arts Ruffle Edge Pink Ribbon & Velvet Ribbon
  • Vintage Pink Buttons
  • Pink Thread
  • Rose Petal Seam Binding from Wild Orchid Crafts
  • Satin Heart
  • White Lace
  • 2 x vintage safety pins (they were out my mums button box ❤ )
  • Copper Wire

This was fun to make and i’m already looking forward to trying something out her book for next weekend

I’m quite proud of my wee corner of blogland, as today we hit 100,0oo visits, I never thought in a million years that I would have so many lovely people popping in for a wee peek .. so to you.. a simple thankyou xx I do appreciate each and every one of you.

I will finish off my post with a wee peek at some vintage jewellery my mother in law gave me a few months ago.. its gorgeous and it came from her old aunty jenny .. its just lovely 🙂

Flowers and Vintage Buttons

I’ve not made any cards this evening… I did record 3 videos tho’ and made some flowers 🙂

The first flower was made using the following : –

  • Stampin Up Scalloped Edge Punch, I punched out 4 layers
  • Ranger Mini Mister filled with plain water
  • Prima E.line Pearl
  • Diamond Dust
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • Heat gun

Punch out 4 flowers with the punch and spritz each piece well with the mini mister, then screw them up into little tight balls, take the heat gun and heat set them, then unfold each one carefully and heat again until dry.

Fix each layer together with Glossy Accents and allow to set, place a pearl or gem in  the centre, then take the glossy accents again and apply it to the top layer of the flower, sprinkle with diamond dust, shake off the excess and allow to dry completely.

For the next 3 flowers …

  • 3 x White Prima Flowers
  • Tattered Angels Glimmer Mist in petina
  • Snooch Sprtiz Spray in Vanila Pearl
  • Diamond Dust
  • Ranger Glossy Accents
  • 1 x Black Stone Bead
  • 1 x Green Glass Bead

The next flower was just sprayed with the following :-

  • Cosmic Shimmer Mist in Candy Pink
  • Smooch Spritz in Vanilla Pearl

I thought I would share my vintage button box with you all, my mother-in-law gave these to me recently, and there are a lot of really pretty buttons in the tin… I think the next lot of cards I make, might just have a button theme 😉

These gorgeous buttons were in the box too, they are battered and well worn, but I love them 🙂
